14-Year-Old Carrying Airsoft Gun Shot By Police

On Friday night, Jacksonville police officer Josh Livingood opened fire on a teenager carrying an Airsoft BB gun, after responding to a 911 call of an “armed prowler” walking the streets. In a news conference on Saturday, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office spokesman Tom Hackney stated that Officer Livingston approached the teen and told him to put his hands up. The boy then pulled out a BB gun and pointed it at Livingood, who fired six shots at the boy, wounding him in the leg. Hackney added that the teen, who was not identified, has “developmental and psychiatric disorders,” and has had multiple interactions with Jacksonville police. The teen was still in the hospital late Saturday morning. No one else was injured in the incident.
